| About Your Privacy |
ConnectUU is an online database of Unitarian Universalist Young Adults. We ask for certain information when you register for Connect UU in order to serve you better. We already have a large database of UU young adults, collected over the years from church rosters and registration lists for conferences and events. Your address information helps us to find out whether we already have a record for you. This helps us to keep address information current so that we can let you know about events and activities in your part of the UU world.
If you are new to Unitarian Universalism, rest assured that we do not collect this information in order to proselytize or convert. We are a non-creedal religion and we do not seek to convince anyone of a particular religious truth. Rather, we are a liberal religious community and community-building is our goal. We would like to contact you if we know of a new group or event in your area, but if you would prefer not to be contacted in this way please let us know when you register. (You can always change this later.)This is a non-commercial enterprise. We will never give, trade or sell your contact information to anybody without your consent.
If you have complaints or concerns, please contact the UUA's Young Adult and Campus Ministry Office.
| About ConnectUU |
The software for ConnectUU was originally designed and built by Kevin McCulloch to support the Unitarian Universalist Association's Youth and Young Adult/Campus Ministry Offices, with the name ConnectUU. Much thanks should go to Austin Putman, Miles Erickson and Charles McNulty who worked on Taco and Tostada, the original UUA Youth and Young Adult databases.
Darrell Duane performed many upgrades and enhancements, maintained the code, and adapted its original form for many other community based organizations.
In the summer of 2006, the governing body of the Continental Unitarian Universalist Young Adult Network (C*UUYAN) passed a resolution requesting funding for additional development, improved user interface, and updated security for the ConnectUU.com website. In conjunction with the Young Adult and Campus Ministry Office of the UUA, C*UUYAN established a technology team that included Darrell Duane, Jeff Bailey, and the principals of Revoluution Media Jonathan Craig and Erik David Carlson. This team is responsible for the new look and usability features in this 2007 release. The codebase was completely rebuilt to simplify operations and increase user friendliness at all levels of access
ConnectUU uses MySQL, an open source database system, and PHP, an open source web scripting language. The source code for ConnectUU is open source. The source code is hosted in Bazaar on Launchpad. The project is called Groupus.
